Just purchased this item, but to date have not managed to get a location fix using the hardware and Jobo software. Anyone out there been using this on their camera? Had any problems?

Sorry don't have one so can't advise you. However I looked at the specs on the Jobo website and it looks great. Let us know how you get on as this is perfect for identifying wild camping spots ( I don't even have a GPS yet so tend to use Google maps to zoom in on the satellite images ).

In theory its not bad but read the review by Scott Kelby and you might change your mind. I'm beginning to think everything he has said is true. Still no joy in getting a fix, think I might have a faulty bit of kit so am waiting to hear back from the sellers(through Amazon). This is definately looking like a "returns" job.
Will keep you posted.

Jobo PhotoGPS

Replacement arrived from Germany this AM (nearly a month turn around)and initial trials using the "Geohint Button" show this one working OK. By pressing the Geohint Button on the unit captures your position. It was not used on camera at this stage but after the position fix connected to computer and exchanged data with the server which provided a location and Lat/Long and altitude. This took all of thirty seconds from my back garden to the fix on computer, giving my road as the location.
Will check out the whole thing on camera tomorrow using RAW and JPEG files.

Later...

Have now tested on camera writing to RAW and JPEG files(SD card). Opened files in Jobo software and tagged. Next opened files in Google Earth and this zoomed straight in to location where photo was taken. So this bit of kit does what is says on the tin!!! Would hope that Jobo looks into producing the hardware with a locking wheel when it slips into the hot shoe on the camera. A slight knock and it can fall off and get lost.
